I NOTED with interest that your contributor, Carol Craig, quoted US President John F Kennedy summing up the problems of basing happiness on GDP as taking place in 1968 (26 July).

President Kennedy was assassinated in November 1963, and it was his brother, Bobby Kennedy, who made this address at the University of Kansas in March 1968.
