Letter: Wind farms myth is miles from truth

THEY say the camera never lies, but the printed image certainly can. In Scotland on Sunday last week you published the much repeated and very clever photograph which purports to show how "wind turbines dominate the skyline behind Stirling" (Business, 24 July).

Taken with a long lens on a beautifully clear day, this image foreshortens the view to give a misleading effect.

In reality, the wind farm is visible to the eye - if you know where to look - in the far distance. I recently guided a group of American visitors around the castle, and not one of them commented upon the wind farm until it was pointed out to them.

By all means debate the issues, but please don't distort reality. Even better, go to Stirling and look for yourself.
