Letter: Vocal support

Let's look beyond Colin Firth's moving performance of George VI's problems of articulation in The King's Speech to speech and language therapists who, in Scotland, work miracles among some 200,000 children and adults with various forms of communication impairment.

Ten years ago voice cancer led to the removal of my larynx, leaving me unable even to whisper. Therapists have restored my ability to speak, to preach and, one might say, to sing. Whatever cuts are envisaged by the Scottish Parliament, please, please, don't take the knife to speech and language therapists.
