Letter: Trash talk to a T

I feel I need to reply to the letters from Christopher Lochead (12 July) and Stuart Winton (16 July) regarding this year's T in the Park.

Unlike Christopher, I did not find the site a "sea of trash", a "garbage dump", or that there was an indescribable smell, with the whole event having turned into a toilet.

In terms of cleanliness the main arena this year was much improved compared with previous years.

The inevitable litter was being constantly removed and the grass could be sat on without any fear.

Of course this doesn't apply to Sunday, when the rain poured down and the site turned very muddy. Also the site was not a toilet as the facilities provided were being used as intended.

I fail to see how Stuart Winton can say the feedback from the police, an organiser and a councillor was "a classic triumph of spin over substance" as he, by his own admission, was not present.

I live locally and have attended every T since it relocated to Balado. I am far from being in the first flush of youth and would not continue to attend if Christopher Lochead's description was accurate.
