Letter: On track

Glasgow now has yet another frequent rail link to Edinburgh with the on-time opening of the Airdrie/Bathgate line. The new transport minister, Keith Brown, was a great supporter for the reopening of the successful hourly Stirling/Alloa line.

Could he now show best effort in having a passenger service restored onward to Dunfermline Town over the existing railway line, thus reducing commuting on the Forth Road Bridge?

He might even wish to allocate additional rolling stock to ScotRail, thus enabling a much needed half-hourly service to Alloa. As passenger figures continue to rise - 50 per cent in five years - the available rolling stock has not been able to keep pace, with resultant overcrowding.
