Letter: Tourism advert

I read with great interest a letter (7 April) in which Mary Douglas talked about VisitScotland's new "Surprise Yourself" television advertisement.

It has been designed to give a snapshot of Scotland's warm welcome and world-class hospitality in an inspiring and surprising way. We hope to alter the viewers' notion of what our country has to offer. We have already had some excellent feedback, not only from the industry, but from our visitors as well.

While the advert covers large swathes of Scotland, I am sure you can imagine it is difficult to cover all of Scotland's beauty in 60 seconds. Indeed, an entire feature film would struggle to do so.

There are plans afoot for a second batch of filming in the autumn. This time we are looking to film additional scenes to complement the existing adverts, including areas not featured this time around, such as the southernmost reaches of our wonderful country.

We would very much like to hear about places in your surrounding area that may merit being included in this round of filming. If you would like to get in touch and offer your suggestions, please e-mail: surprise@ visitscotland.com.
