Letter: Too many MSPs

The noticeable lack of reaction to criticisms made by Jackson Carlaw, MSP, that our Scottish Parliament spends the mere equivalent of ten weeks a year debating in the Holyrood chamber was revealing.

Perhaps one way of dealing with things would be to reduce the number of MSPs - and certainly the number of ministers, as the Irish government did on cost grounds.

Earlier in the year, there was also the expose about membership recruitment in the SNP aimed at influencing list-system placings. If the numbers of list members returned to Holyrood were made to reflect voter turnout at elections, things might begin to change.
