Letter: Tax disc display

Why am I forced to advertise in my car windscreen that there is £238 to take if you smash my car window? Nowadays everything is checked by computer, the police use my number plate to check I have tax insurance and MOT.

But my car offers free car tax to anyone who can alter the tax disc after smashing the window. Having to display the tax disk is out of date and the law needs to be changed, if not, lots of car windows will be smashed for the now very expensive tax discs.
