Letter: Suitable apparel

I watched the opening of the Scottish Parliament on Friday. There was pomp and ceremony, fine words and music.

But from the Duke of Edinburgh to the Duke of Hamilton bearing the Scottish crown to the First Minister, all were in dull suits - not a kilt in sight. The Queen's Consort could be forgiven, being 90 and his knees being past it.

As George Chilsom might have sung: "Where's yer kilt the noo?"
