Letter: Stop free tribunals

Employment tribunal (ET) reform is long overdue. Although we won an action by an employee who behaved "disgracefully" (the judge's comment) the cost was in excess of 10 per cent of our annual invoicing.

His representative even wrote that the ET would not cost them anything, so I would fully support any proposal that would require claimants to lodge some sum with the court prior to taking action. This may prevent frivolous claims as the current process is in all practical senses, cost and risk-free to the claimant.
