Letter: SNP hearts

I was glad to see Joyce McMillan's support for the SNP's government at Holyrood, even if unwillingly given (Perspective, 18 March).

She would never, she says, vote for them with her heart, but on their record and their policies she had to support them with her head. When I was young it used to be hurled at the nationalists that they were only using their hearts, not their heads. But "the heart has reasons that the mind knows not", and perhaps that was a good way to start.
