Letter: SNP 'contempt'

Andrew HN Gray (Letters, 11 September) has evidently perceived that Scottish Nationalists regard English people with contempt. Since I have English friends and grandchildren, his telepathic powers have failed him. I do not know any Scottish Nationalists who have such an attitude.

My contempt is reserved for my fellow countrymen who are content to be subject to what is, in effect, an undemocratic English government which we never voted for in Scotland. This government is now evidently intent on destroying public services in Scotland, whatever the social cost, while expenditure on the Trident, first-strike missile system, nuclear weapons and futile wars in the Middle East remain sacrosanct.
