Letter: SNP cannot lose

BUOYED by the cash supplied by millionaire donors, the SNP alone can afford to field candidates in almost every seat in the upcoming local elections.

The other parties flounder to match the financial clout of the Nationalists.

Given the predicted low turnout and the fact that the more zealous SNP supporters always vote when many backing the mainstream parties do not, and the favourable STV system foisted upon the country by a previous administration, the SNP simply cannot lose.

The last local elections had a miserably low turnout. What would be considered a great victory by the non-Nationalists is to get more out to vote than did then.
