Letter: Shetland rules

IF the Shetlanders are so close to Scandinavians (Perspective, 2 February) why do so many of the islanders such as Tavish Scott have Scottish surnames?

I think the feature was written with political chicanery in mind, stating that the last thing the Northern Isles want is to be ruled by Glasgow trade unionists or Edinburgh lawyers. One wonders then if they are happy to be ruled by Cockney slickers.
