Letter: Shared pleasure of Sunday paper

WHILE we read The Scotsman on weekdays and Saturdays, we have always bought the Sunday Herald. However, now the latter has been redesigned as a single section newspaper, we have converted to Scotland on Sunday.

Reading the Sunday newspapers is a shared family event. When I was a child, my dad would read the sports section, while mum read the main news, and my sister and I ploughed through the arts pages. We all looked forward to these occasions, and in adult life, my partner and I carry on this tradition.

With the Sunday Herald only one of us is now able to read the paper at any given time. No more lolling on separate sofas, while reading different sections and reading out loud items that interested us. Whoever made the decision to change the format doesn't understand how readers enjoy this basic pleasure.
