Letter: Sexual mores

The Pope has gone. Back to business as usual: sexual health and unwanted pregnancy still out of control (your report, 20 September). Only solution mentioned is more of the same amoral "only have sex when you feel like it and wear a condom" education.

The condom is again charged with protecting a society committed to sexual permissiveness from its negative consequences in practice. More research is clearly needed to produce the perfect condom: perfectly reliable against pregnancy and disease, incapable of improper use, forgetfulness resistant, and protecting utterly from emotional damage and risk to the stability of future relationships.
