Letter: Scrap Trident

The costs to build the two aircraft carriers will be £5.2 billion (your report, 24 September). Ian Davidson MP says: "Effectively, there are no meaningful savings to be found by destroying the carriers."

Yes there is. Scrap the Trident nuclear programme, which is a complete waste of public money. It's like a gunfight: you are shot but you have the satisfaction of shooting him too. Is it worth it?
