Letter: Scottish justice is out of step

Kenny MacAskill has whined on TV about the overturning of current police practice, proof positive that he like his predecessor is not up to the job. Anyone with an ounce of brain can see Scots law is out of step.

Since the introduction of the 1998 Scotland Act all legal actions must comply with this legislation and yet most local and central government departments have done nothing to examine practice against compliance.

It is now settled that current practice by the police is flawed and it is only a matter of time before the Procurator Fiscals' current pre-trial discriminations are found non-compliant.
