Letter: Scotland's shame

As A proud Scottish football supporter who was at Hampden on Tuesday, I was once again stunned by the vitriolic booing that was meted out to the visitors' national anthem (your report, 9 September).

When is Scotland going to rid itself of this hatred and childish behaviour and follow the lead of the many international supporters who honoured the national anthems of all the countries at the recent World Cup by showing respect?

Is Scotland really so bad mannered or is it just a true reflection of what has happened since we introduced the dirge of our own national anthem with its nationalistic outdated words supported so well by out present inward facing government?

Perhaps we will have to wait until Scotland has the courage to kick Flower of Scotland into touch once and for all.
