Letter: Safety in numbers

In response to your article "Ministers warned that cutting frontline police numbers would be 'false economy''' (25 October), I want to know why this government is ignoring the needs of the people of Scotland?

I work in a betting shop in a run-down area of Glasgow and without the brilliant services of the police, I do not think I would be able to carry on working. We get regular visits from police and community service officers, making the regulars feel safe and secure.

If crime is lower than ever in Scotland, then surely a reduction in police services would only make everything worse. These moves could destroy communities and make life very hard for those lucky police able to keep their jobs.
