Letter: Rose-tinted specs

I WOULD be interested to know from City of Edinburgh Council leader Jenny Dawe quite what she sees on her way to work each day, for her response to Charles McKean (Letters, 14 February) suggests that she hasn’t been recently to Specsavers, or tried to walk along many a pavement. Areas of Rose Street paving are like tank traps.

And why is there still that horrible swiggle of tarmac down the once beautiful and expensively pedestrianised area in Castle Street after all these months?

As far as the tram stop being “close” to Waverley, well really. I will look forward to watching Ms Dawe with her 20kg suitcase travelling unaided from the airport (where the tram stop is also “close” to the terminal) to her train at Waverley.

If it’s good enough for tourists it should be good enough for her. An integrated transport system for the 21st century (I quote). My eye. Just whose side is Ms Dawe on?

Judging from her attitudes, not the people of Edinburgh nor the heritage of this city, I would wager.
