Letter: Robust debate

Peter MacMahon (Inside Politics, 5 January) congratulates Iain McMillan for producing debate on "fiscal freedom" and his criticism of writers who robustly disagree with Mr McMillan probably refers to contributors like myself.

I would suggest there have been many factual and logical responses to Mr McMillan's "robust criticism" and his "forthright defence of his stance". This debate has obviously widened the "narrow, limiting parameters" which Mr MacMahon supports and I would suggest Mr McMillan must have some passion for his subject in producing his side of the debate.

Your many readers will, as the audience in this debate, logically and passionately decide which viewpoint to agree/disagree with.
