Letter: Reassuring roots
Gerry Hassan (Comment, 30 September) writes that in a changing world, the Commonwealth is increasingly irrelevant.
The opposite is the case - in a world of change, people need roots and familiar landmarks; our history is linked with the old empire, and the Commonwealth brings the reassurance of stability. As Hassan points out - some actually wish to join.
