Letter: Rail works

THE timing of the engineering works referred to by Mark Boyle (Letters, 29 December) was in fact planned and carried out by Network Rail, which is responsible for the infrastructure.

ScotRail, the train operator, widely advertised these works from 12 weeks in advance and provided full alternative transport on the day.
