Letter: Purpose of school
Richard Lucas (Letters, 30 December) advocates teaching the so-called "facts" of Judaeo-Christian morality at school. Teachers shouldn't be burdened with inculcating the young with the rules of one particular moral code.
We live in a culturally diverse society with any number of competing faiths and moralities, including secular ones. Shouldn't we be debating moving to the US and French view of freedom of religious thought and expression?
