Letter: Polling count

I was surprised to see Alan Trench claim in "We need ceasefire in Scots cold war" that "the Electoral Commission did not come well out of either the AV referendum or the March one on legislative powers in Wales" (Perspective, 29 June).

He makes the claim without further clarification or evidence and it is not a view that corresponds with the feedback the commission has received on the polls.

It should also be noted that polling day in both referendums and the Scottish Parliament election was successful with no repeat of the voter confusion seen in the 2007 Scottish Parliament elections.
