Letter: Political extremes

THE tragic events in Oslo should highlight the danger posed by extreme right-wing Christian nationalists. The perpetrator of the massacre had praised the BNP, the English Defence League and Geert Wilders' Dutch Party for Freedom as the "one real party" that represents indigenous Europeans

Of course, it would be wrong to suggest that Anders Behring Breivik, the alleged perpetrator of this terrible act, represents all Christians or that Christian pastors should report suspicious activities of their parishioners. Brevik no more represents all Christians that Osama bin Laden did all Muslims. However, there is a double standard when it comes to religious terrorism. When it is Islamic, it is inherent within the religion, but when Christians such as American Tim McViegh do it, it is merely an aberration.
