Letter: Polar bear myth

An RSPB survey asked 200 children aged between four and 12 to vote on which one of five selected threatened species they thought needed the most help (your report, 4 June). They chose the iconic polar bear.

Al Gore's film An Inconvenient Truth has been repeatedly shown to schoolchildren and strongly featured the polar bear. One of the film's false claims was that polar bears were facing extinction.

Dr Mitchell Taylor has studied polar bears for 30 years and proved that numbers are now much higher than 30 years ago. He was banned from the Copenhagen Climate Conference because his "Inconvenient Truth" was at odds with the groups' global warming ethos.

I suggest our children are being brainwashed and that climate change is now "a weapon of mass taxation".
