Letter: Picking students
Allan Massie's argument for some positive discrimination for less affluent potential students (Comment, 24 August) misses a major point.
The children going to middle-class comprehensives and independent schools did not have a choice either.
So by discriminating against them in favour of "poorer" students you are willing to make a decision about their future, even though it was their parents who chose the school.
