Letter: Pertinent gift

Since reaching the tender age of 50, I have been inundated with offers from life assurance and funeral planning companies, usually offering a free pen as an inducement to apply for one of their products.

Like most people over 50, I have a desk draw full of pens and pencils, so I am underwhelmed by such offers.

May I suggest that these companies offer a free gift of something which people over 50 actually need, such as a nose hair trimmer?

Better still, a nose hair trimmer with ear hair trimmer attachment.
