Letter: Off-colour

Bob Ritchie (Letters, 2 July) presents the feelings of the many veterans who paraded on Saturday out of loyalty to their regimental Colours and respect to our much-admired monarch. It was clear that the large number of the public who attended sympathised with his feelings.

My own regimental party included soldiers from all parts of the UK, many of whom were in tears when our Colours were marched off and, sadly, we will have no reason to visit Edinburgh again; we were the Edinburgh Regiment. We now have to decide where our Colours - the Colours we all fought for - are to be laid up to gather dust.
