Letter: Of public interest

YOUR article "Police chief shows leadership" (11 January) called for "a proper debate on the appropriate governance structures for Scotland, across every area of the public service".

I agree - and I hope that an important part of that debate will be the work of the Commission on the Future Delivery of Public Services, which I chair.

Indeed, our commission will go further - by examining the full range of issues affecting the delivery of Scotland's public services.

We are consulting publicly - see www.publicservicescommission.org - and I hope that many of your readers, personally or professionally, will join that debate.

Our aim is to produce, by June, recommendations which can support and shape reform, right across Scotland's public services. I look forward to sharing this process.
