Letter: Not so 'national'

I don't wish to denigrate the work of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) or its views on the use of human artificial skin rather than animals, such as rabbits, in testing chemicals (your report, 11 August).

However, it is important in the interests of supporting and promoting our own Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) that the term "national animal charity" is clarified; ie, the RSPCA is only national in respect of England and Wales, as its remit does not extend to Scotland.
