Letter: Not nationalism

Colin Wilson (Letters, 10 January) clearly believes that his house should be governed by the people who live in it.

But surely R Mill Irving's point of view (Letters, 11 January), with which Mr Wilson disagrees, is just the same: that his "house", or country, should be governed by the people who live in it.

It is, of course, good to share with others, but I don't imagine that Mr Wilson would like his neighbours to vote on how he and his wife run their house, however much he likes them.

In other words, wanting to run your own affairs is not necessarily "narrow" or "nationalist".
