Letter: Moray fears

Political hypocrisy soars to new levels in Scotland with Alex Salmond's participation in the "Save the RAF base in Moray" campaign.

For the leader of a party whose stated aim is the break-up of the UK and withdrawal from Nato, with all that entails with respect to British defence establishments here, to "fight" to retain the base is stomach-churning in its blatant political posturing.

Mr Salmond's addiction to TV cameras and the limelight is all too well known. His intervention in Kilmarnock may well have worsened the Diageo problems and put off potential inward investors. This time, too, he plays with the lives and livelihoods of many thousands of people and if he really wants to help he should stay well clear.
