Letter: MoD waste

WE ARE aware of Beaufort’s Dyke being used by the Ministry of Defence as a dustbin for phosphorus incendiary devices and phosgene gas.

Gruinard Island was used for anthrax experiments and the Firth of Forth used as a dumping ground for radioactive radium.

Is it not about time the MoD owned up to how many other dirty little secrets it has regarding dumping dangerous chemicals in and around Scotland?

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency should force the MoD to produce a complete list of dumping grounds so that work can commence to stabilise and then remove the contamination at the expense of the MoD.
