Letter: Mistakes in Libya

How long will it be before Western weapons supplied to Libyan rebels are found in the hands of al-Qaeda or the Taleban?

If the coalition of the willing maintains that it will attack Gaddafi's forces as long as they continue to fight the rebels, but the rebels don't stop attacking, then the coalition has carte blanche to continue the action as long as it wishes.

If the coalition has decided to exceed its UN remit and take sides in this conflict, why does it not simply say so? Why does it lack sufficient respect for its own citizens to admit what is being done in their name?

How does it follow that the new government will not be even more hostile to the West?

Do not misunderstand me; Gaddafi is vile and the world will be a better place when he is no longer in power, but how many things can our politicians get wrong in one day?
