Letter: Malingerers?

DR Mary Brown (Letters, 3 February) suggests that “the hallmark of a just society is surely the way it treats those who are most vulnerable”.

Right, who are they?

Please give us the definition, doctor. We can all come up with the obvious people on your list. The trouble is, our country has more than its fair share of malingerers.

In our largest city 23 per cent of those of working age are workless; they won’t work. What do you propose we do about them?

I would adjust your old tattie which is wielded by do-gooders every time someone wants fairness for hard-working people.

How about: “The hallmark of a just society is the prevention of lead-swingers from performing their parasitical activities on honest members of that society”?

Please don’t tell me all disability benefit claimants are honest.
