Letter: A lot of hot air
I HAVE been reading with increasing incredulity the campaign to retain the gas holder in Granton. As someone who used to live at Crewe Road West as a child and had the area around the gasworks as my playground I always thought of the two gasholders as a colossal blot on the land.
In this age of computer graphics, could a record of this monstrosity not be created for posterity, all in glorious 3D? Alternatively, a trip along the M8 to Glasgow should provide a view of what a gasholder looks like.
I would hazard a guess that all of the people advocating keeping this structure do not live within view; I reckon they would be begging to get rid of if they did!
