Letter: Local police

The plans by three out of the four main parties to curtail policing by introducing a more remote and centralised force based in the Central Belt should alarm all voters. Does anyone seriously believe that we can have "efficiency savings" and protect front-line services if this is left to the politicians and bureaucrats?
