Letter: Labour's failings

Donald J Morrison (Letters, 17 February) clearly thinks I approve of Labour's "jiggery-pokery" regarding its alleged donations of tens of millions to the unions.

In fact, although I was not aware of this allegation against Labour, I wouldn't put it past them. The problem that Mr Morrison and those who subscribe to the "Little Scotland" school of thought (or lack of it) should appreciate is that we are caught between the Devil and the deep blue sea.

We have socialists on the one hand, with only one thought in their tiny little minds; namely the destruction of the United Kingdom. On the other, we have Labour, who say that they are unionists, but whose actions lead inevitably to economic meltdown, giving sustenance to nationalism thereby. This they have recently proved, as they do every time they are in government. The trouble is, we cannot all sit on a blanket with our begging bowls, which seems to happen when we elect these ninnies, again and again.

Should Mr Morrison disagree, consider the position we were in in the late 1970s and scroll forward to 2010. Someone has to keep the country going and one can only hope that this government can ConDem the "we cannae dae it" culture to the rubbish bin where it belongs.

Current European legislation stops small companies wanting to employ staff because of the off-putting legislation with which they cannot afford to be saddled.

While we are all on extended paternity leave, or while we are in court, suing our former employer for racial or sexual discrimination, the Chinese are leaving us far in their wake, laughing all the way to the bank.
