Letter: Just William

AS RIVERS go the Boyne is rather insignificant but there is nothing mythical abouth the battle that took place on its banks in 1690 (Letters, 21 April). King William and his Hessians did defeat King James and his French troops and changed British history.

What might annoy present-day partisans on both sides is the fact that the Pope gave his blessing to William's takeover.
