Letter: Irish economy

Scottish Labour leader, Iain Gray, has gone "off script" when he uses the current plight of the Irish economy, due to the banking crisis, in an attempt to score political points against the SNP.

Has he forgotten that the Labour script was that is was "global problem" and not a "national issue"? Mr Gray's position confirms that the Prime Minister, Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Governor of the Bank of England and the FSA were all asleep on their respective watches.
