Letter: Iraq war immoral

I WAS interested in the paean of praise by Keith Gilmour (Letters, 3 September) for Tony Blair for initiating the illegal military attack on Iraq.

If I learned anything of value from surviving the Second World War, it was that there is no moral justification for aerial bombing attacks on defenceless civilian populations. I have no doubt that Mr Blair should be brought to trial as a war criminal at the Hague on this account.

It is of interest that on his visits to encourage the troops sent to Iraq, he took the trouble to wear a white shirt, evidently a gesture to absolve himself from the consequences of the disastrous war he had engineered.
