Letter: Iranian justice

The efforts of the French foreign minister on behalf of the woman awaiting execution by being stoned to death in Iran for adultery are admirable.

He has lately offered to go to Tehran to continue the fight. Why does our own foreign minister not exert similar pressure? In his latest remarks, the French minister said that Iran's treatment of the woman was "barbaric'' and more attuned to the "middle ages".

I would think that comparison too kind. Stone-Age thinking would better exemplify those in 2010 advocating this "punishment''.
