Letter: Insult to nurses

Newspapers have been full of Andrew Lansley's "apology" to the nursing profession (14 April). If I were a nurse I would take Lansley's so-called apology as more of an insult.

What he is really saying is that he is sorry members of the nursing profession didn't understand his proposed reforms when in fact they did, which is why they were objecting.

He had already insulted them by not consulting a body of people who probably know more than any other about what makes the NHS tick.

Lansley should have the good grace to resign now and save David Cameron the embarrassment of firing him.
