Letter: Indefensible

AS THE population of Lossiemouth send their battle bus to Westminster to protest against the closures of their airfield, I am mindful of the campaign to save the Scottish regiments which sent a battle bus around Britain culminating at Westminster at the request of the shadow defence minister Liam Fox.

As an opposition politician, he used the occasion to tell everyone what then defence secretary Geoff Hoon was doing to our regiments was wrong and if the Tories got back in power he would reverse that decision.

When the Tory Party got back into power, however, we were sidelined.

Indeed, it now appears that Fox wants all our military installations south of Hadrian's Wall and threatens a cull of 17,000 troops.

The moral: don't confide in politicians.
