Letter: Inclined to differ on bicycle route

IN YOUR Bike Week supplement (13 June), Cycling Routes in Scotland No2, you state that from Fort Augustus to Inverness it is "a fairly easy family pedal, using touring or mountain bikes", also that "it's pretty flat".

If you are referring to the Great Glen Way, I find the description very misleading. Out of Invermoriston there is a steep climb, after Alt Sigh there is a steady climb of approximately two miles and from Drumnadrochit a pretty challenging climb. There are many other ascents and descents, mainly on forestry roads, not I would have thought suitable for touring bikes. As for "a fairly easy family pedal", fine if your family consists of Alberto Contador and Ivan Basso.
