Letter: Helping the rich

IT IS unbelievable that Chancellor George Osborne is now talking of abandoning the 50p tax for higher paid earners.

His words are insulting to those struggling on low incomes and for many who are not getting any pay rises, with growing inflation destroying their standard of living.

The Tories just never seem to understand that the huge majority of voters see them being weak in taxing immoral bankers' bonuses, weak in taking on the utility companies with their obscene hikes in electricity and gas, and now hinting at tax cuts for the well-off who are in a position to, and should, pay more to help our country in the present mess.
