Letter: Hard to swallow

The headline, "UK to leave Scotland behind on alcohol pricing" (your report, 29 November), reminds me of a seminar I attended some years ago.

Making a point on a specific matter, the speaker compared UK and Scottish statistics. "But surely the Scottish statistics were already included within the UK statistics," I said, but he treated my intervention as an irrelevant detail as he continued to pursue his point.

The irony of your headline is that the members of the UK parties in the Scottish Parliament, having voted against some alcohol pricing in Scotland, will have to sit and watch as their London-based colleagues support such a measure. Ironic or what?
